Tadpole Program
30 months - 3 Years Old (30 months old by September 1st)Must be Potty Trained
This class is ideal for children who are learning to be in a group setting. Our goal is for children to feel that school is fun and comfortable place so that they develop a positive attitude toward school at this early age. Emphasis is placed on socialization - taking turns, listening, sharing, beginning to follow classroom rules, and seeking help when needed. Children will be making friends for the first time and learning to trust in their teachers. Separating from parents is often a major accomplishment for a child of this age. Once a child feels comfortable and secure, he or she will begin to actively explore the environment - eager to learn!
Concepts and activities introduced in the Tadpole Curriculum will include:
- Cognitive - Name, color, and shape recognition
- Communication - Sharing ideas, storytelling, singing songs
- Social - Small group activities which foster cooperation and social relationships
- Play Habits - Taking turns, clean-up responsibilities
- Gross Motor - Running, jumping, outdoor play
- Fine Motor - Puzzles, playdough, finger plays, painting, coloring
In this class you will find children:
- Beginning to cooperate but self-focused most of the time
- Learning to take turns with supportive adult modeling and guidance
- Wanting to repeat a task or activity over again and again to practice and perfect their newly developed skill
- Participating in activities and enjoying the process, rather than focusing on the product
- Confident to try new skills and eager to help
In this class you will find teachers:
- Warmly greeting each child, letting them know they are special and unique
- Comforting children who are distressed
- Supporting children as they attempt new tasks
- Observing children during daily activities and documenting their interests
- Meeting the individual needs of students
- Genuinely interested in what children are doing and how they are feeling
- Having fun and enjoying their time guiding young children
